10 December 2021
At Idesi Legal we have been busy with applications for the Residence Visa under 2021 Special Category. Interest in the Visa has been strong and many applications have been submitted. We look forward to the day when we can congratulate our first Residence Visa holders under the 2021 special category.
Applications opened on 01 December 2021 and the website was swamped with applications. So much so that the RealMe website went down for a time.https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/127147314/website-crashes-as-applications-open-for-fasttrack-migrant-resident-visas
According to the Minister it is expected that up to 15,000 applications for the new Residence visa are expected to be submitted.

Yes, you have read it right.
Only 20 applications were approved by the Tuesday following on from when applications opened.
This is contrary to the rumours on the street that applications are being approved on the same day and the claim that Immigration New Zealand will be approving applications rapidly.
While it is still early days – 20 applications out of 9418 in the first week is not a good sign.
